Moving Planet Vermont:
A Part of 350.org’s Global Rally
On September 24 2011, 350.org's annual global rally took place. Rallies, workshops, and festivals took place all over the world - in thousands of cities and hundreds of countries, with everyone focusing on climate change awareness. This year's theme was "Moving Planet."
Several events took place across Vermont, culminating with a huge rally that took place on the State House lawn. Governor Peter Shumlin and Senator Bernie Sanders spoke on the solar-powered stage (from the Solar Bus), an estimated 1,000 people showed up - many of whom walked, biked, and carpooled from long distances. It was truly inspiring to see all the people sitting on the steps of the State House, all there for one reason. In the 8+ years of doing many rallies, festivals, and events, it's hard to think of one that was this inspiring.
