Special Thanks

The Solar Bus would like to thank the following people and organizations for their help and support.

Name Comments
Evergreen Solar The solar panels on the roof of the Solar Bus have graciously been donated by Evergreen Solar, in support of our educational mission. We think Evergreen are the best panels, not only because they support our project, but also because they use a proprietary process that reduces waste significantly. Also they are made in the good old USA. Check their website for more info. You can purchase Evergreen solar panels at Real Goods.
Outback Power The 2800 watt inverter on the Solar Bus, which brings power to public events, is supplied by Outback Power Systems. Outback makes very high quality sinewave inverters. Check their website to see why the're the best. Outback inverters can be purchased at Real Goods.
Bogart Engineering The PentaMetric system monitor has been graciously donated by Bogart Engineering.

The PentaMetric is by far the most versatile sytem monitor available. With the PentaMetric we are able to monitor not only how much power is left in the battery bank, but also how much power is used at each concert, movie, and public speaking event to which we supply power. And on top of that we can keep track of how much power the solar panels produce over time. Without being able to measure all these figures separately, it would be difficult for us to ensure we have enough power. Our sincere thanks go out to Bogart Engineering for helping support the Solar Bus project!
Mark Nigels Mark has helped out in so many ways, I can't possibly list them all here. Some of the main things he's done include:
  • Flew out to California to pick up the bus and copiloted the drive all the way back to Vermont
  • Helped take out the original bus seats
  • Assembled the hand-crank fuel pump we use to fill with biodiesel
  • Went to the Vermont Alternative Energy Festival and helped run the booth.
  • Helped put in the bunk beds
  • Went to the Garden of Eden Music Festival and helped run the booth.
Real Goods Special thanks to Real Goods for providing hardware and technical assistance for the Solar Bus. Visit Real Goods website for books and products relating to solar energy, wind power, energy efficiency, and much more. Thank you John, Doug, and Debbie for your help.
