Solar 101 Basics: Intro to Solar Design
This class was prepared for a group of volunteers on a humanitarian project to install solar systems in Puerto Rico for people with low income and medical needs that require electricity.
In this class you will learn:
- How to determine how many solar panels you need for a given project
- What are the main components of a solar energy system
- Basic installation hardware - brackets, wiring, saftety, etc

Ground mount installation
This educational video shows what it's like to participate in a ground mount installation. Today we are volunteering at the Solarfest 2025 site, helping install a 125 kW system! This great project is led by Solar Bus co-pilot Kenny Oldrid . The array will power about 15-20 homes!

Mounting hardware 101 in Puerto Rico
Gary from the Solar Bus was in Puerto Rico in March 2024 to help install solar panels for people in remote areas with special needs, as part of a project run by Let's Share the Sun Foundation . In this short lesson he explains the importance of using the right mounting hardware to match the type of roof. In this case it is corrugated metal roof and he is using a product called the S5! Corrubracket.
